Have you ever thought about the importance of the technology we consume daily? Of course, we all do! especially when our WiFi drops in the middle of a video call, or whenever you find the answers in just a few seconds by googling. Sure, all these products surrounding us are enhancing our lives but, what are these brands doing for our beloved planet?
2020 was a year that transformed our lives and pushed us into adopting technologies in many aspects. Food delivery services became a must, just like Didi Food, Uber Eats, Postmates, and others. When Cinemas closed, the streaming platforms arouse like Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, HBO, Netflix, and many others. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Duo, and other video-call services became even more popular. And if you were already enjoying those services before the lockdown, I bet you may have ended up upgrading your subscriptions, or perhaps you got into trying new digital payment platforms.
In the end, we all helped these brands to grow in the middle of the worst economic downturn since the great depression, in fact, some became multimillion companies overnight and got an incredible financial acceleration worth years!
From here, there’s no turn back, things will never be the same, and it is still in our hands as consumers if we want to keep on helping these companies, or maybe it’s time to shift toward other (new and not-so-new) brands with meaningful causes that look for a sustainable future with a reduced environmental footprint, and a positive social impact.
